We all know that gemstones have a major influence on your fortune as per Vedic astrology. So that the valuable jyotish gemstone can really amplify your luck; there are further descriptions related to gemstones.

In short, getting pure gemstones calls for selecting it carefully. There are certain ‘measures of purity’ like weight, inclusions and colour of the gemstones. Let’s see why we should pay attention to these aspects of the gemstones.

Inclusions

Many people have a misconception that a flawless and artificial stone is perfect. However, if your pukhraj or panna has some inclusions; means those are 100% original.

Inclusions are natural internal flaws like cracks, spots, bubbles that appear during the formation of gemstones. For example, presence of golden needle in quartz crystal is a sign of perfection or identification and not a sign of worry or flaw.

Nature of inclusions like dense or light plays an important role in its selection. Small and light coloured inclusions are acceptable but too much of it can weaken the durability and change the real colour.

Weight

Real gemstones are one of the most effective remedies offered by Vedic Astrology. However, it should be noted that this powerhouse of energy should have ideal weight (ratti) or carat. Let’s understand these weight measuring units.

  • Ratti

Ratti is the unit that equals to180 mg and is widely used in India. Sava/Sadhe Ratti will give you essential information concerning which gemstone you should wear. It refers to a range of .00 to .66 following the decimal in the weight value of the stone. For example, Sava/Sadhe Paanch Ratti stone should weigh between 5.00-5.66 ratti. Any value beyond this range (5.67-5.99) which is called ‘Pauna’ must be avoided. Overall, the values of the gemstone that falls below or above Sava or Sadhe rattis are considered low and excess, respectively. Similarly, Sava Saat ratti implies a weight in excess of 7 ratti.

  • Carat

Carat that equals 200mg is an internationally used weight unit. The weight range of 4-8 Carat is most widely worn and any stone below 4 Carat is too small to make skin-contact and any stone above 8 Carat might become too massive to handle.

Colour

Different colour gemstones influence various responses like emotions and feelings of the wearer. A red gemstone like ruby will promote security. A yellow gemstone like pukhraj is helpful for enlightenment. An appropriate coloured gemstone is a must for healing and other positive impacts.

So, getting an idea of the different colours and the energies associated is a must before you plan to buy one for yourself.

Also note that a natural gemstone colour intensity should be optimal, neither too light nor too dark and not of any secondary colour tone.
