After wearing 6 Mukhi Rudraksha, it becomes essential to follow a series of care and cleaning steps to ensure its maintenance.

 Brush the mukhis to clean any dust particles collected inside.

 Soak it overnight in water and dry in sunlight.

Things to avoid:

•  Panchagavya/ Panchamrit, Gangajal, peepal leaves, gangajal, kapur and coconut
•  Pour Gangajal or Panchamrut over the rudraksha to cleanse it
•  Apply sandalwood paste
•  Wave a stick of agarbatti or kapur over the rudraksha
•  As an offering, place white flowers before
•  Touch the rudraksha to a shivling or photo of Lord Shiva, chanting 'Om Namah Shivaya' 11 times.
•  Face towards north east as you take your seat
•  Clean the rudraksha with Gangajal
•  Place it on a stack of 9 peepal leaves set on a copper plate.
•  Rub sandalwood paste and offer white flowers

Chant ‘AUM NamahaShivay, AumHreemNamaha’ 108 times.
